Tutku is a writer across forms and creative writing workshop leader and currently working on her debut collection of short stories which will be published by Dear Damsels. The collection explores several female protagonists: their lives, their desires and their conundrums, exploring themes of sisterhood, self love, healing and resilience.
She has previously been published by Dear Damsels both online and in print, including her story “An Apple Pie Life” which featured in their paperback collection “What’s She’s Having” which was listed as one of The Guardians Food and Drink Books of the Year.
As a playwright, Tutku is an alumna of the Royal Court Writers’ Programme as well as Sphinx Theatre’s year-long writer’s development programme, Sphinx Lab. Her debut play Layla and Youssef was longlisted for the Bruntwood prize and the Paines Plough Women’s Prize For Playwriting.
Tutku has also worked on various theatre and arts projects with young people and children including work at Battersea Arts Centre, South London Gallery and Rugby Portobello.
In her creative writing workshops Tutku invites adult participants (writers and non writers alike) to indulge their creativity, write playfully and write mindfully. She uses her rich experience in writing across forms to inspire each session – creating a safe, non judgemental and fruitful space in which to create.
