Eoin Macken is an Irish actor, director, and writer, his multifaceted talents have seen him be part, and lead, a wide breadth of projects. He currently stars in recently released Roku Series, ‘Borderline’ and soon to be released Netflix series, ‘Ransom Canyon.’ On both the film and television front, Eoin’s resume consists of a variety of projects in leading roles, including ‘Gavin Harris’ on the two-time People’s Choice Award nominated NBC primetime hit series “La Brea”, ‘Karl D’Branin’ in “Nightflyers” and his big break television role as ‘Sir Gwaine’ in hit BBC series “Merlin.”
As a multi-hyphenate filmmaker, he also wrote, directed, and produced “Here Are the Young Men,” adapted from a novel by Rob Doyle, of the same name, starring Finn Cole, Anya Taylor-Joy, and Dean-Charles Chapman. The film’s theme was driven by the social analysis of toxic masculinity, and was released in international theatres, as well as via Netflix. “Grey Elephant,” a satirical comedy, which he wrote and directed, was released in 2022, follows two couples meeting together for the first time after months of being on lockdown due to the Covid-19 pandemic. His artistic talents extend into cinematography in the independent films “Stalker” starring Barry Keoghan and “Charlie Casanova” with Emmett J Scanlan that won the top prize at SXSW.
Adding to his talents and accomplishments, Eoin is also an author. He published his first book Kingdom of Scars which was shortlisted for the Bord Gais Energy Irish Book Awards in 2014 – a YA, coming of age story where a teenager discovers love, sex and friendships in what seems to be a very real Dublin. He followed with ‘Hunter and the Grape’, a refreshing and different take on the YA coming of age genre in an evocative story steeped in pain, love, hope and regret.
